Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem, born on April 27 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, U.S., of Lebanese Druze heritage, is an American radio personality and voice actor.
Kasem founded the popular American Top 40 franchise in 1970, hosting it from 1970 to 1988 and then from 1998 to 2004. Between 1989 to 1998, he was the host of Casey's Top 40, Casey's Hot 20, and Casey's Countdown. He currently hosts four weekly syndicated radio programs based on the American Top 40 franchise: American Top 20 with Casey Kasem, Country Top 40 with Casey Kasem, American Top 10 with Casey Kasem, Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 70s, and Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 80s. The later two are replays of AT40 shows from the respective decades.
In addition to his radio shows, Kasem also provides the voice of many commercials, has done many voices for Sesame Street, was the voice of NBC, helps out with the annual Jerry Lewis telethon, and most notably, provided the cartoon voice of Robin, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo and a number of characters for the Transformers cartoon series of the 1980s.

Currently hosts "American Top 10," a 3-hour radio show that counts down the Top 10 hits in the land based on the "Radio & Records" Adult Contemporary chart. The show also features a different theme each week for the "extras," along with Casey's trademark Long Distance Dedications.
Currently hosts the daily 3-5 minute radio show "America's Top Hits." It features one song and a story about the song or arist of the day.
Had the weekly radio show "America's Top 40" (where he counted down the top 40 hit songs in the U.S.A.) in the '80's. He was known for the phrase "Details coming up", which he often said just before a commercial.
Also voiced the character Cliffjumper in "Transformers" (1984) and 1986's Transformers: The Movie, The (1986). Funnily enough, his first duty in the movie was to "commence countdown" (for the shuttle which was about to launch).
