Cannery Row is a novel by John Steinbeck. It was published in 1945. A film version was released in 1982.

Cannery Row takes place in the small strip of land near a sardine fishery in Monterey known as Cannery Row. It revolves around the people living there during the Great Depression: Lee Chong, the local grocer; Doc, a marine biologist based on Steinbeck's friend Ed Ricketts; and Mack, the leader of a group of bums. The novel is by turns nostalgic, comical, and sad.
