The film stars Greta Garbo, Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Jessie Ralph, Henry Daniell, and Laura Hope Crews.

The film inspired Milton Benjamin to write and publish a song called "I'll Love Like Robert Taylor, Be My Greta Garbo."

Camille was included in Time Magazine's All-Time 100 Movies in 2005. It was also included at #33 in AFI's 100 Years... 100 Passions.

Portions of the film are featured in the 1982 musical Annie during the number "Let's Go To The Movies".

Camille (Barton film) (Wikipedia.org)

Camille is a 1926 short film by Ralph Barton, the creation of which is described in Bruce Kellner's The Last Dandy, a biography of Barton.

This silent film, an ostensible adaptation of La Dame aux Camélias (by Alexandre Dumas fils), was made available on distributed video in 2003 as a supplement to a Warner Bros. release of Charlie Chaplin's A Woman of Paris; its relevance in this connexion is based in Chaplin's nutty on-screen involvement in the project.

Appearances are also made by Paul Robeson, H.L. Mencken, Theodore Dreiser, Sinclair Lewis, Paul Claudel, and many other lights of the 1920s cultural scene of Paris and New York.

1847 - In the gay half-world of Paris, the gentlemen of the day met the girls of the moment at certain theatre, balls and gambling clubs where the code was discretion ... but the game was romance. This is the story of one of those pretty creatures who lived on the quicksands of popularity - Marguerite Gautier, who brightened her wit with champagne, and sometimes her eyes with tears. From the novel of Alexandre Dumas fils this is the story which Giuseppe Verdi took for La Traviata. Written by Michael Crew
