"By Your Side" was a single released from Squeeze's sixth album, Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti, in Spain and Germany. The cover art is the same as that of the UK single "No Place Like Home."
"By Your Side" is the lead single from the English group Sade's fifth studio album, Lovers Rock (2000). The track was nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" in 2002, losing out to Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird". The video for this single was directed by Sophie Muller.
This song was featured in a Sex and the City episode entitled "The Good Fight", originally aired on 6 January 2002.
"By Your Side" also has remixes by Ben Watt as well as The Neptunes, for which a video was made. It was also covered by Beachwood Sparks on their 2001 album Once We Were Trees.
