Brian Denis Cox, CBE (born June 1, 1946) is a BAFTA- and Emmy Award-winning, Golden Globe-nominated Scottish actor.
Dr Brian Cox (B. E. Cox), born 1968, is an experimental physicist and Royal Society University Research Fellow. He is a member of the High Energy Physics group at the University of Manchester and also works at CERN.
Cox played keyboard for the rock band D:Ream while studying for his honours degree and doctorate. He left the band in 1997. He has also played keyboard for Dare.
Cox is also now known outside his profession through his involvement in science programmes for BBC radio and television, including In Einstein's Shadow , the Horizon series , and as a voice on the BBC's Bitesize revision programmes. He was the science adviser for the sci-fi movie Sunshine.
He was also featured on the Discovery Channel special 'Megaworld: Switzerland'.
He is married to TV presenter Gia Milinovich and has one son.
Brian Cox (born 1962 in Sheffield) was a professional footballer, who played as a goalkeeper.
He started his career at local club, Sheffield Wednesday as a 16-year-old, but he was being kept out of the first team, but he left in 1982, to gain first-team experience at Huddersfield Town.
He helped Mick Buxton's side in getting them promoted up the league ladder, before leaving in 1988 to join Mansfield Town.
During his career, he also played at Millwall.

Brian Cox is a writer and director of various independent films and of television. The various television series he has worked on include Oz and Studio Bob. One of his more recent projects was a live-action adaption of El Muerto: The Aztec Zombie in which he served as writer and director.
Brian Cox is an Emmy Award-winning actor, first coming to attention in the early 1970s with performances in numerous television films. His first big break was as "Dr. Hannibal Lecter" in Manhunter (1986). The film was not overly successful at the box office, although Cox's career prospects and popularity continued to develop. Throughout the 1990s, he appeared in nearly 20 films and television shows, as well as making numerous TV guest appearances. More recently Cox has had roles in some major films, including Murder by Numbers (2002), Corruptor, The (1999), Ring, The (2002) and X2 (2003).
