Brian Keith Bloom (born on June 30, 1970) is an American actor.
Bloom was born in Long Island, New York, the brother of actor Scott Bloom and a long-time childhood friend of actress Alyssa Milano.
Brian began an early interest in acting, highlighted in several commercials as a child, but made his big break in the Sergio Leone film Once Upon A Time In America. From there he was offered the role of Dusty Donovan in the hit soap opera As the World Turns, which he played for several years. During that run, Brian became the youngest winner of a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Young Leading Man during the 12th Daytime Emmy Awards show for his performance on the series. Despite his success, he soon tired of the scheduling involved in that field and eventually left the series to star in several television movies. This opened his appeal to later roles, which would include spots in Melrose Place, 2000 Malibu Road, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Drive and HBO's Oz as the character Ronald Barlog. Bloom also starred in a series of 1994 television movies playing Bandit, a part loosely based on the iconic Burt Reynolds role.
Bloom is expanding his resume to include voice work on both animated projects and video games. Brian agreed to give Playgirl magazine an interview and photoshoot for their March 1996 issue. Though Brian was not nude in the photos, they are the most recognizable among fans today. Brian's hobbies include: writing, composing, recording, cooking, and designing and building furniture. Bloom also owns and runs Animal World Network, which highlights his love of animals.
Brother of actor Scott Bloom (I)
He has worked with several of the WB's Charmed cast: Holly Marie Combs in the movie Walls of Glass, Brian Krause (I) in the Bandit series, and three movies with Alyssa Milano: Dance 'Til Dawn, Crash Course and Confessions of Sorority Girls.
At his home in the Hollywood Hills, Bloom enjoys an extensive collection of rare and first edition books. His lifelong passion is writing, composing and recording at his in-home studio. Brian also designs and builds furniture, practices and studies Eastern philosophy, enjoys cooking fresh foods and listening to a wide variety of music.
Brian became the youngest winner of a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Young Leading Man during the 1984-85 season for his performance in the soap opera As The World Turns. Additional acknowledgements of Bloom's work include being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Young Leading Man in 1985-86 and 1986-87. He was also nominated as Best Young Actor in a Daytime or Nighttime Series by the Sixth Annual Youth In Films Awards in 1984.
Doesn't list his Emmy win in his resume as he doesn't want to be typecast as a soap star.
Dated Allison Smith ("Kate & Allie"), whom he met when they were both cast in an ABC Weekend Special, "A Different Twist", during his high school years (1983-1987).
Performed in the 80s celebrity baseball games on the Dodger team.
Injured his head badly while working on the Bandit television series. He shortly thereafter began studying eastern philosophy.
Backed out of the Bandit series once the decision was made for it to go into an hour long format series. The show was immediately cancelled thereafter.
