Blazing Stewardesses is a raunchy 1975 comedy film that reunited the last remaining members of the Ritz Brothers comedy team. Originally, the film was to have starred the Three Stooges featuring Moe Howard, Emil Sitka (the new middle Stooge replacing Larry Fine), and Curly Joe (De Rita), but Howard's death in 1975 led to the Stooges being disbanded, and the Ritz Brothers were brought in as replacements.
Producer Sam Sherman intended the film to be a fond throwback to B-pictures of the 1940s, and hired a cast of screen veterans: The Ritz Brothers, Yvonne DeCarlo, Don "Red" Barry, and Bob Livingston. There is some "T&A" content (DeCarlo's character runs a brothel) but nothing explicit, and the film mostly resembles a vintage western, complete with dude-ranch setting, outlaw hijackers, stunt riders, masked cowboy hero, and rodeo footage (intercut with shots of Harry and Jimmy Ritz kibitzing in the stands).
Because of the western theme, the working title The Jet Set was changed to Blazing Stewardesses to capitalize on the box-office hit Blazing Saddles. The film was later re-released under at least three alternate titles: Texas Layover, Cathouse Cowgirls, and The Great Truck Robbery.
BLAZING STEWARDESSES features Adamson's wife, cult scream queen Regina Carrol, and Yvonne DeCarlo, best know as TV's Lily Munster. This broad comedy, the sequel to NAUGHTY STEWARDESSES, finds a planeful of oversexed airline attendants touching down on a ranch. Little do they know, however, about the masked bandit lurking in the sagebrush, who just might ruin their plans for some lusty fun. Written by Ørnås
