Benjamin E. Murphy (born March 6, 1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas) is an American actor. He is best known for his role in the television series Alias Smith and Jones, co-starring first with Pete Duel and later with Roger Davis.
He also appeared in a supporting role in The Name of the Game, a series featuring a rotating leading cast including Tony Franciosa, Gene Barry, and Robert Stack. After Alias Smith and Jones Murphy went on to star in his own series Gemini Man, in which he played a character who could disappear through the use of a watch. However, the show did not run for more than a season. Since then Murphy has been seen in guest starring parts, the most recent being a murder suspect in Cold Case.
Though born in Arkansas, Murphy grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. An alumnus of Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, he attended eight different colleges before setting out on an acting career.

Starred with the late Pete Duel in Alias Smith and Jones (1971) (TV) and "Alias Smith and Jones" (1971), an ABC western series derived from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Rumor has it that Murphy ended up a frontrunner for the series because of his close resemblance to Paul Newman (I).
Starred in eight series (The Name of the Game, Alias Smith and Jones, Griff, Gemini Man, The Chisholms, Lottery, Berrengers, Dirty Dozen) in a career that has spanned five decades.
Also an avid tennis player, at one time top seeded in Southern California.
In July 2006, he and Roger Davis, his co-star in Alias Smith and Jones, were guests at the Western Film Fair in Charlotte, North Carolina along with Russ Tamblyn, Mark Goddard, Marjorie Lord, Ronnie Schell, Steve Kanaly, Tom Reese, Coleen Gray and Cheryl Rogers.
