Being Human is a 1993 film starring Robin Williams.
The film portrays the experience of a single human soul (portrayed by Williams) through various incarnations. Williams is the only common actor throughout the stories that span man's history on the earth.
The film was written and directed by Bill Forsyth for David Puttnam while he was in control of Columbia Studios in 1989. When Putnam was ousted Being Human was pulled from the distribution schedule and was given a limited release in 1993.
This is Ewan McGregor's screen debut.
The language spoken by the woman Hector encounters and falls in love with in the Middle Ages is Friulan, a variety of Ladino which is spoken in north-eastern Italy.
Feature film debut of Ewan McGregor.
This was the first feature film of Tony Curran.
Due to adverse reaction at preview screenings, Warner Bros instructed the director, Bill Forsyth, to trim the film by 40 minutes as well as adding narration and a happy ending. Forsyth subsequently disowned the film as a result.
