Bart Edward Scott (born August 18, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American football linebacker who attended Southern Illinois University and is currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. Scott saw significant playing time during the 2005 season in which Ray Lewis injured his hamstring. He played in Lewis' absence at the middle linebacker position. Scott signed a three year contract extension with the Ravens ,though the Cleveland Browns offered him more money. With the departure of Adalius Thomas, he is now starting LOLB/MLB for the Ravens, depending on which defense they're in. Ravens are known to play 4-3, 3-4, and 46 defenses. In 2006 he was second on the team in tackles with 135, he has also recorded 9.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Scott played his college football for the Southern Illinois Salukis. While at SIU, he played safety and linebacker.
He played at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii as an alternate after being elected to replace his teammate Ray Lewis because of a hand injury sustained in a playoff loss to Indianapolis.
On December 3 2007, Scott was penalized twice for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth quarter of the Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots. The second call came after Scott picked up the official's flag and threw it into the stands. After the possession ended, Scott had to be held back from the referee by his teammates. Following the game, teammate Samari Rolle made accusations of disrespectful language by the official involved.
