Bananas is a 1971 comedy film written and directed by Woody Allen in 1971 and starring him and Louise Lasser. Parts of the plot were based on the book Don Quixote, U.S.A. by Richard P. Powell. It was filmed on location in New York City and in various locations in Puerto Rico: San Juan, Carolina and Loiza. The MPAA rated the film with a PG-13 for comic sexual content, including some pin-up nudity, some drug use, and crude language.
This film is number 78 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies".
Fielding Mellish (a consumer products tester) becomes infatuated with Nancy (a political activist). He attends demonstrations and tries in other ways to convince her that he is worthy of her love, but Nancy wants someone with greater leadership potential. Fielding runs off to San Marcos where he joins the rebels and eventually becomes President of the country. While on a trip to the states, he meets Nancy again and she falls for him now that he is a political leader. Written by Scott R. Vaughn
