Baby It's You is an American film released in 1983 written and directed by John Sayles. It starrs Rosanna Arquette and Vincent Spano.
This was Sayles' first film for a major Hollywood studio. He based the screenplay on an autobiographical story by Amy Robinson but it's also close to his own high school experiences.
Six adult siblings and the vicissitudes of fertility, infertility, and the desire - met and unmet - for a baby. Focusing on one couple's attempt to become pregnant, and the inevitable highs and lows of a year of hope and disappointment. Written by Eileen Berdon
In 1966 New Jersey, Jill Rosen, a frustrated high schooler, is intrigued by an enigmatic new student known only as the Sheik. Sheik is an Italian whose primary interests are his car, Frank Sinatra, and Jill. At first she is taken aback by his forwardness, but they soon develop a relationship, much to the chagrin of their parents. Sheik gets expelled from school, and Jill is accepted at an all-girls college. After a fight, Sheik goes to Florida to work in a club lip-synching Sinatra songs. Sheik becomes dissatisfied with his Florida lifestyle and goes back to New Jersey to try to win Jill over. Written by Philip Brubaker
"Sheik is an Italian whose primary interests are his car, Frank Sinatra, and Jill."This is wrong. Sheik has no car. He uses his friend Rat's car, or Jill drives. At one point they borrow someone else's, and at another, he steals someone's car. But he never actually /owns/ a car of his own, not even in high school. And his primary interest isn't necessarily Frank Sinatra but his ideal of becoming a famous lounge singer like him. I wouldn't mention that, but the movie is kind of a play on classes so it's kind of significant. Just thought you guys should know it was a little off. It's also kind of important that Jill is dissatisfied with college at the same time Sheik gets dissatisfied with Florida. Written by Michael Hoffman
