At the Movies is an ABC1 program hosted by film critics Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton, in which they discuss the films opening in theatres that week.
The program, which began in mid-2004, is essentially a continuation of the pair's earlier program The Movie Show, which aired on SBS TV from 1986 to 2004. The pair left SBS after expressing dissatisfaction with high-level decisions.
The weekly half-hour program consists of film reviews and discussions as well as interviews with cast and crew members. The hosts also occasionally broadcast from film events such as the Cannes Film Festival.
It currently airs at 10:00 p.m. Wednesdays and is repeated at 6:00 p.m. Sundays on ABC1.
Following the 18-year success of their reviews on "The Movie Show", renowned Australian critics and film supporters David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz take to a new show, where each week they review five of the latest releases - ranging from big budget flicks to independent Iranian films - always with their unique chemistry, and familiar style that has made them Australian cultural icons. The show that made Siskel and Ebert famous. These two Chicago-based movie critics sit around and review movies, giving either "Thumbs up" or "Thumbs down." Noted for the good-natured insults traded by the two reviewers (usually concerning Ebert's weight and Siskel's receding hairline). Written by Afterburner
