Anya's Bell (1999) is a made-for-TV movie starring Della Reese as Anya Herpick, a blind woman who collects bells and never leaves her home. Following the death of her mother, she befriends a young boy, Scott Rhymes (Mason Gamble), who struggles with dyslexia. The movie also stars Thomas Cavanagh and Kelly Rowan.
A blind woman (Della Reese) who collects bells and never leaves the house suddenly finds herself alone when her mother dies. Then a neighbor 12 year old boy (Mason Gamble), who others term as slow, becomes her friend. Together they both make new discoveries, the main one being that the boy suffers from dyslexia - a condition that none of his teachers or parents have discovered. The boy aids the older woman in learning to use a walking cane, so she can become mobile and better take care of herself. Written by John Sacksteder
