Anthem is a single released in August 1997 by The Wildhearts, on the Mushroom Records Label. It was the first Wildhearts single to be released on multiple formats (Formats: CD1 (MUSH6CD), CD2 (MUSH6CDX), 7" Vinyl (MUSH6S)) with different b-sides on each format, which caused some uproar at the time from long time fans of the band. It reached number 21 on the UK chart.
The single was the first from the controversial album Endless Nameless.
Anthem is a song written by Canadian progressive rock trio Rush. It appears on their Fly by Night album from 1975. The lyrics are heavily influenced by novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand, whose ideas heavily influenced Rush lyricist Neil Peart in that time period; the song's title is taken straight from Rand's novella Anthem.
The song is, like Rand's writings, about individualism and love and respect for the self and ego. It urges listeners to live for themselves and realize that they are in charge of their own lives. Musically, "Anthem" is a classic example of early Rush, heavy and loud, with fast guitar, drum, and bass licks, and featuring the very high-pitched early singing style of Geddy Lee.
"The Anthem" is the second single taken from Good Charlotte's second studio album The Young and the Hopeless. The song is generally seen as to be about the torment faced by fans of alternative music in high school from other "popular" kids. It also has a message of doing what you want to do in life.
Anthem (We Are the Fire) is a single by the Metal band, Trivium. It was the second single from their 2006 album, The Crusade. The single release for the song included two B-sides from The Crusade. It made number 1 in UK Rock Singles chart. The song is used in the video game Burnout Dominator. The Intro of the song on the music video was used on a bumper on the late night television block Adult Swim. Which is shown in the UK on Bravo.
