"Another Day" was U2's first single release, and was released in 1980 following their EP, Three, and prior to their debut album, Boy. As it has not appeared on any album or other CD pressing, it is considered a rarity in U2's catalogue and almost wholly unknown to anyone but dedicated fans of the band.
Excluding "Electrical Storm," which has never been performed live, "Another Day" can be considered to be U2's least played single. Only five renditions at four concerts are known to have been played. However, it must be emphasized that "Another Day" dates from before the release of Boy and the majority of setlists from that era are unknown. It is probable that "Another Day" was performed more times in 1979 and the first half of 1980. Its last known performance occurred on 27 July 1980.
The B-side was an early demo of "Twilight," which was later re-recorded for its appearance on Boy and was regularly played live until 1984.
"Another Day" is a song recorded by Paul McCartney in New York in 1970, during the sessions for his album Ram. It was released as a stand-alone single, the first of McCartney's solo career, on the Apple Records label in February 1971 with "Oh Woman, Oh Why" as the B-side.
"Another Day" is written in an observational style reminiscent of "Eleanor Rigby" and "She's Leaving Home". The lyrics describe the drudgery and sadness of an unnamed woman's life at work and at home, with the lilting melody of the verses and "du du du"s of the chorus contrasting with the darker tone (lyrically and musically) of the bridges. Linda McCartney provided harmony vocals. Her husband credited her as co-writer. However, this was seen as a business maneuver in the post-Beatles legal matters.
The song was a hit in both the U.S. and UK, achieving top-5 status on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching U.S. #5 and UK #2 in April of 1971. In Australia the song spent 1 week at #1. In France was also a #1 hit.
Although neither "Another Day" nor "Oh Woman, Oh Why" were actually a part of any McCartney album, some CD re-releases of Ram have one or both songs as bonus tracks. "Another Day" has also appeared on several of McCartney's greatest hits albums, including Wings Greatest, All the Best!, and Wingspan: Hits and History, although it should be noted that the song definitely predates the formation of Wings. It is the first in a very long succession of solo McCartney hits.

Another Day is the second track and the first single from the Dream Theater album Images and Words. It is also featured on the Japanese version of the Live at the Marquee CD, the Live Scenes from New York CD and the Images and Words: Live in Tokyo DVD. The lyrics were written entirely by John Petrucci and refer to his father's struggle with cancer. Jay Beckenstein, from the band Spyro Gyra and owner of BearTracks studios where the album was recorded, plays soprano saxophone on this song. For the ending, he recorded eight takes, all of them improvised, one of which was chosen to be featured on the song.
The band originally thought that the song could have been a big hit, but surprisingly Pull Me Under gained more airplay.
Another Day was the second single by Danish singer Whigfield from the album by the same name, first released on 19 January 1994. The melody was taken from the 1970 song, In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry.
