Rubin Andre Carter (born May 12, 1979 in Denver, Colorado) is an American football player in the National Football League who currently plays defensive end for the Washington Redskins. He went to University of California, Berkeley. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 1st round (7th overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft. Carter was originally drafted as a defensive lineman, but was converted into a linebacker as the San Fransisco 49ers used a 3-4 Defense instead of a 4-3 Defense. The Redskins have since moved Carter back to being a defensive lineman.
