Allan Octavian Hume (June 6, 1829 - July 31, 1912) son of Joseph Hume was a civil servant in British governed India, and a political reformer. He was, along with Sir William Wedderburn, a founder of the Indian National Congress. He has been called the father of Indian Ornithology by some and, by those who found him dogmatic as the Pope of Indian ornithology.
