Alan Davies (born 6 March 1966) is an English comedian and actor best known for starring as Jonathan Creek on the popular TV mystery series of the same name. More recently he has been the permanent panellist on the TV quiz show QI.
Richard Alan Michael Davies (known as Alan Davies) was Chief Executive of mental health charity 'Mind' and a Liberal Democrat politician.
Davies was a Civil Servant with the Immigration Service, Head of the Conveyancing Department at Essex County Council and a member of the legal department of Brentwood District Council having moved down from Clwyd County Council where he was also involved with property matters following his promotion from Slough Borough Council's legal department.
Prior to 1974 Davies had worked in various law firms as a Legal Executive in Muswell Hill, Barnet and Neasden.
Davies is married to Vicky Cook and has two grown-up daughters. His interests include squash, cricket and hockey.
Davies was the first elected Liberal Democrat Member for Hutton East Ward in Brentwood in May 1990. During the period of Liberal Democrat control of the council, he was Chairman of the Planning Committee for six years and later was chairman of the Policy Committee. He was also a member of the Environment and Technical, Housing, and Planning Panels.
Alan Davies (5 December 1961 - 5 February 1992) was a Welsh footballer whose regular position was on the right wing.
He started eight games for Manchester United between 1982 and 1984 having signed for them on leaving school in 1978. Davies, then 21, played for Manchester United in their 1983 FA Cup triumph against Brighton. He later turned out for Newcastle United, Bradford City and Swansea City. He also earned 13 caps for the Wales national football team. The highlight of his career was when he scored in the 1984 Cup-Winners-Cup semi-final first leg against Juventus, after coming on as a substitute.
On 5 February 1992, Davies was found dead in his car near his home in South Wales, at the age of just 30. He had committed suicide. At the time of his death, he was on the books of Swansea City.
Alan Davies (b. 1951 in Alberta, Canada) is a contemporary American poet, critic, and editor who has been writing and publishing since the 1970s. Today, he is most often associated with the Language poets.
Alan Davies was a professor of mathematics and was (now retired 2007) head of the Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics Department at the University of Hertfordshire.
Alan Davies is a rugby union coach. He was coach to the Wales national rugby union team 1991-1995 winning 18 of 35 matches. Davies also coached Bristol RFC.
Alan lived in Loughton, Essex for most of his life, until he left to pursue a career in comedy. He now lives in Islington in north London. He is the second of three children, born in Essex, and has an older brother and a younger sister. He was raised by his father, an accountant when his mother died when he was just 6 years old. In 1982 he left Bancroft School in Woodford Green with 8 O-levels. He then attended Loughton College of Further Education and got 4 GCSEs and two A levels, in Theatre Studies and Media Studies. He was taught theatre skills by Piers Gladhill. Alan is best known for playing the title role in "Jonathan Creek" (1997) written by David Renwick, as a man who designs magic tricks for Adam Klaus but he also teams up with Maddy Magellan to solve baffling crimes. He is also known from the Abbey National adverts.
