Affective computing (Wikipedia.org)

Affective computing is a branch of artificial intelligence that deals with the design of systems and devices which can recognize, interpret, and process emotions. It is an interdisciplinary field spanning computer sciences, psychology, and cognitive science.

Affective Computing is also the title of a textbook on the subject, by Professor Rosalind Picard, published in 1997 by MIT Press. The origins of the field trace back to Picard's 1995 seminal paper on Affective Computing.
