About a Boy is an Academy Award-nominated 2002 English film directed by brothers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz, based on the book of the same name by Nick Hornby. The film stars Hugh Grant as Will, Nicholas Hoult as Marcus, Toni Collette as Fiona and Rachel Weisz as Rachel. An interesting aspect of the movie is the use of double voice-over narration, where, at crucial moments in the plot as well as the introduction, the audience can follow Will's as well as Marcus's thoughts.
The film is frequently re-run on TV channel ITV in the United Kingdom throughout the year.
This was intended to be a pilot for a TV series which never went to series.
Will Freeman is a hip Londoner who one day realizes that his friends are all involved with the responsibilities of married life and that leaves him alone in the cold. Passing himself as a single father, he starts to meet a string of single mums, confident in his ability to leave them behind when they start to ask for a commitment. But Will's hope of a continued bachelorhood is interrupted when he meets 12-year old Marcus, in many ways his complete opposite. Written by Mattias Thuresson
