Chaoyang District (or Precinct) ( ) is a district of northeastern Beijing, China.
It is home to a good part of Beijing's diplomatic quarters, with many embassies located in the area. It occupies an area of 475 square kilometers, and has a population of 2,289,796 (2000 Census), making it the second most populous precinct of Beijing. The famous Sanlitun bar street also finds its home in Chaoyang district, as well as Beijing's evolving CBD and the Olympic Park that is being built for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Chaoyang precinct is expansive in size, stretching as far west as Chaoyangmen on the eastern 2nd Ring Road, and extending nearly as far east as the Ximazhuang toll station on the Jingtong Expressway. Within the urban area of Beijing, it is the largest precinct. (Haidian comes in at a close second.) It also stretches north towards the airport area. In fact, it also hosts Beijing Capital International Airport, an exclave within Shunyi District/Precinct.
Chaoyang also contains such things as a silk street.
