"Are We the Waiting" is the fifth track on the normal edition of Green Day's seventh studio album American Idiot. In some countries, it is the fourth track, because tracks three and four ("Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams") are combined into a single track, with "Are We the Waiting" and "St. Jimmy" also combined into a single track.
"Are We the Waiting" is the fourth song on Green Day's live album Bullet in a Bible, and is the only song with no commentary on the album other than "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)".
The song title is sometimes transposed as "We Are The Waiting"
The song [according to an iTunes review] is about Jesus of Suburbia's change into Saint Jimmy. On the iTunes released version, this song is combined with St. Jimmy.
The guitar strumming pattern at the begining of the song is extremely similar to the one in "In The Flesh" by Pink Floyd
