Chris Gamble (born March 11, 1983) is an American football player with the Carolina Panthers. During his NFL career Gamble has only played cornerback, but at Ohio State University he began his career as a wide receiver. It wasn't until his Sophomore year that he was moved to cornerback. His playmaking ability on defense and in the return game turned the tide in some close games during the 2002 National Championship season. Gamble has boasted of a 40 inch (101.6 cm) vertical jump, and ran a 4.45 forty yard dash in the NFL Combine. He was selected 28th overall in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. The Panthers staff claimed that Gamble would be a future starter but that he was too raw to start right away . In a 38-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings on October 30, 2005, Gamble tackled Vikings Quarterback Daunte Culpepper, tearing his ACL, PCL, and MCL.
